Meet Jane Chevalier:
Supporting Women Through Pregnancy, Birth, and Beyond

I’m Jane Chevalier, a perinatal massage therapist, and the founder of Take Care Mama Massage. During my 20 year career, my focus has been health and wellness with a more recent focus on women and motherhood since becoming a mom in 2020. I’ve worked with women through some of the most transformative — and vulnerable — seasons of their lives: conception, pregnancy, postpartum, and long after birth.

Moms are the heartbeat of human existence – we are the creators. But being the empaths we are, we don’t want to draw attention to ourselves because we don’t want anyone else who doesn’t create to feel less special. Therefore, when we struggle during pregnancy, birth or postpartum, we don’t want to make it a big deal. But here’s the truth: it matters. A mom’s experience impacts the people around her – her children, her partner and her community. When a mom is hurting, it affects everyone around them and can feel as though we have failed.

Although there is still a long way to go for postpartum standards of care in the United States (longer maternity leave and funds for postpartum care), our current standards in Colorado are fairly progressive and supportive as seen in the strong network of perinatal care providers (especially seen in the recent medicaid funding for Doula support). My hope is for more funding to go toward other services that are just as important such as the work I do, but that’s a topic for another time.

My work focuses on supporting the body systems that are most impacted by pregnancy and birth — the uterus, pelvis, hips, nervous system, and connective tissue — areas that are often overlooked in standard postpartum care. And areas that oftentimes are completely intertwined with mental health and recovery as well.

I specialize in prenatal and postpartum massage, abdominal therapy, cesarean scar recovery, and nervous system regulation (also known as craniosacral therapy). This work isn’t about “bouncing back” or fixing bodies. It’s about helping women feel grounded, stronger, and at home again. Reconnecting to their center.

What informs my approach is both professional training and personal experience. I’m a mom myself and have lived the reality of postpartum recovery, including cesarean birth. That lived experience and understanding shapes how I show up for my clients — with respect for the pace of healing, the emotional layers of recovery, and the importance of touch that feels safe, attuned, and intentional. The professional training I’ve received is just as important, as I want to be educated and seek out the most helpful approach that a mom living in my community needs.

In my practice, I often work with women who feel dismissed or rushed by conventional timelines. Many come in carrying tension, discomfort, or a sense that something just doesn’t feel right in their body. My role is to help restore balance — physically and emotionally — through integrated care that honors where they are in their journey.

At the heart of my work is a simple belief:

Mothers deserve a full circle of care that meets them where they are now, not just clearance to “go back” to where they once were.

Supporting women after birth doesn’t just improve individual recovery — it strengthens families and communities. When a mom feels supported, everyone benefits.
